Earth Day Activities to Take Care of Yourself and the Planet

Apr 22 / Community + Events

This Earth Day, even if the world is a little different, we’re still thankful for this planet we call home. That’s why we’re sharing some ways to take care of yourself and the planet with some family-friendly ideas and activities.

1. Take a hike at some of our favorite walking trails

Enjoy nature and the great outdoors at your favorite local walking spot! Our personal favorites are Talbott Mountain State Park in Simsbury and Barkhamsted Reservoir in Barkhamsted

2. Grab some supplies to enjoy the great outdoors

Grab a kayak, fishing poles, golf clubs and more at Dick’s Sporting Goods to help you enjoy activities that are safe for you and the planet! You can order from Dick’s Sporting Goods online and pick up curbside at the store.

3. Do some family gardening and crafting!

Take advantage of this time at home with the family to do special crafts to learn and celebrate Earth Day. Looking for inspiration? Try creating an egg carton seed starter, paint stones for the garden, or make a pine cone bird feeder!

4. Get an eco-activity box

Our friends at the Roaring Brook Nature Center here in Canton have created eco-friendly educational activity boxes geared for kids of all different ages and interests!
